Статья посвящена истории изучения религиозно-философского наследия Синрана, одного из реформаторов японского буддизма периода Камакура, в англоязычной научной литературе. Определены основные этапы в развитии англоязычной научной литературе о Синране, подходы, характерные для каждого этапа, приведён краткий обзор основных работ. Для современного этапа, начавшегося после окончания Второй мировой войны, выделены следующие направления в изучении мысли Синрана: историко-философские работы и переводы источников, работы компаративного характера, историографические исследования.

The article is devoted to the history of studying the religious and philosophical heritage of Shinran, one of the reformers of Japanese Buddhism of the Kamakura period, in the English-language historiography. The article defines the main stages of development of English-language studies on Shinran, approaches, and major works, specific to each stage. For the present stage, the following types of research are defined: historical, philosophical works and translations of sources, comparative studies, historiographic studies.
