Статья анализирует содержание и формы антияпонской пропаганды в США как разновидности антиантантовской пропаганды в период от начала мировой войны в Европе (август 1914 г.) до разрыва США дипломатических отношений с Германией (февраль 1917 г.). Предметом исследования избраны публикации ведущего органа прогерманской пропаганды - еженедельника «Fatherland», влиявшего на общественное мнение страны. Показано использование расовых и национальных предрассудков американцев, изображение японцев как «иных» и «чужаков», формирование представления о «японской опасности», угрожающей Америке.
This article analyzes contents and forms of anti-Japanese propaganda in the United States as a kind of anti-Allied propaganda, from the beginning of the First World War in Europe (August 1914) up to the termination of the diplomatic relations between the USA and Germany (Februar1917). The paper deals mainly with ‘The Fatherland’ weekly as a major and most influential tool of pro-German propaganda in the country. To achieve this aim the weekly used then-existed racist and nationalist prejudices of the Americans, pictured the Japanese as “others” and “aliens”, tried to show Japan as a menace to the USA.
